Catalonia welcoms stars from Abkhazia’s classical artistic world

On 23 November 2014 the Abkhazian State Philharmonic soloists (organist Luka Gadeliya and opera-singer Christina Eshba) gave a concert in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia. This was an iconic cultural mission: two talented and bright peoples, the Abkhazians and the Catalans, making a stand for independence, affirmed their right to their own history, national values, traditions, culture, art and lifestyle.

Concert in the National Basilica of the Sacred Heart - Brussels, Belgium

On 30 th June at 17.30, the Russian organist Luka Gadelia will give a free concert in the National Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

He will play music from Abkhazia, Russia, Belgium and Germany.

The church was intended to be built by Devout Pope IX, and the first stone of the new building was laid down by him in 1870, but because of the annexation of Rome to the Reign of Italy the work was interrupted. Owing to the tenacity of Saint Giovanni Bosco, the construction resumed in 1880 and was completed in 1887. The architect was Francisco Vespignani.

The Organ Hall will open its doors to the students of Luke Gadelia, an outstanding organist from Abkhazia. The solo program will include works by Bach. Schumann, Brahms, Wagner and Liszt.

Luka Gadelia first visited Krasnoyarsk in November last year. He took part in the IIIrd International Festival of Krasnoyarsk "The Universe — The Organ", dedicated to the 80th birthday of Michael Tariverdiev. With his emotional playing the organist immediately won the hearts of the Siberians.

Luka represents Abkhazia at all-possible international festivals of organ and classical music. The talented musician has played in churches in Germany, Holland, Italy and Latvia (Riga, Dome Cathedral). Today his concerts are sold out in Russia (Moscow, Volgograd, Kirov, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Naberezhnye Chelny), the Ukraine (Kiev, Kharkov, White Church), Kazakhstan (Astana).

Luka Gadeliya – is a cultural brand of the Republic of Abkhazia. He is a young and talented musician, Lauriat of a number of international contests. He works as an organ player at the legendary Pitsunda Cathedral erected in the 10th century in honor of the St. Andrew the Apostle.
